The moment anyone takes a passionate and vocal stance

The moment anyone takes a passionate and vocal stance on a subject that is pervasive and far-reaching enough, they’ve essentially flagged themselves as a target by the competing groups. I prefer being hated for what I feel is either 1.) less ignorant or 2.) less violent than to be tolerated by ignorant or violent people. I’m not on their team, and I wouldn’t want them to think for a moment that I count myself among them.
