For both moral and practical reasons, captive-breeding is unjust

Captive-breeding doesn’t work to preserve species as the captives are generally never freed to live in suitable habitat. The best we can do to stop extinction is to protect other animals’ habitats and let them be. Further, it’s fundamentally wrong to violate an individuals right to liberty for the sake of supposedly preserving their species. For both moral and practical reasons, captive-breeding is unjust.
